Dear NORDP colleagues,
A small group of RD’ers is developing a conference abstract for a one-hour, interactive session that focuses on overcoming common problems associated with major institution-driven research initiatives. Such problems can include: communicating the initiative’s purpose and progress to internal/external audiences; ensuring faculty researchers’ success; and leveraging the research initiative to advance education. We would love to expand the experience of the presenting team beyond “grand challenge” – style programs to include initiatives such as creating campus-wide areas of research excellence; establishing cross-disciplinary institutes/centers; or any other major research initiatives that are founded by or given priority by top-level leadership (e.g., research initiatives launched by a President, Provost, VCR, VPR – including those pesky unfunded mandates!) If you’d like to learn more or join our team, please reach out to any of us:

We hope to hear from you!

Hi Everyone, This topic intrigues me and I am current looking to collaborate on topics of research initiatives that fall outside of "traditional" boundaries or requests for support and I wondered if I would be a good collaborator on your presentation? I work for a non-profit organization and manage a large research program in simulation, education, and other applied research initiatives. My perspective would be unique since I'm not in a traditional University setting and we are called upon to collaborate on large educational programs that require multiple centers and cross-disciplinary teams. I would be thrilled to help co-present and provide examples of what I have developed as best practice methods toward implementation and communication of these large programs. I realize I'm a little late in response but I can and am willing to help develop this topic if you see I'm a good fit!
